Frequently Asked Questions

Santorini is a very popular wedding destination, but quite small as an island, so we advise booking up to 2 years in advance, to give you the best choice of venue and date. One benefit of booking early means you could secure a good venue rate, offered for advance bookings.

Most venues offer late afternoon or early evening ceremonies, there are however exceptions like Santo Winery which can be hired earlier, as a ceremony only venue. I would strongly consider the heat with earlier weddings, temperatures in high summer can exceed 40degrees.
We recommend no earlier then 3.30pm, but even later if you can, especially in the hotter months of July and August.

The main wedding season in Santorini is from June to September, with some venues offering discounted rates for dates slightly outside of this, like May and October when the island can be quieter.

Lately we’ve seen an increase in bookings for these months, as couples try to avoid the high heat of summer.

I would recommend using a wedding planner to work with the local authorities as paperwork varies for each couple and nationality. But generally, you'll need valid passports, birth certificates and certificates of no impediment (a document to prove you are single and able to marry).

There is no minimum residency requirement in Santorini, but we do suggest allowing at least 2 to 3 days arrival before the wedding, so that you have time to complete your pre wedding meetings and relax before the big day.

Yes, Santorini is a more expensive destination for weddings, compared to other Greek islands. it attracts people from across the world, in search of luxury venues and experiences. So this is not a destination we recommend for those on a tight budget. Try Zakynthos and Rhodes both still excellent value for money.

The currency in Santorini is the Euro.

The best sunset views are from Firastefani, Fira (Thira), Akrotiri and Oia. I love that the view changes depending on where you are on the island, this is what makes the sunsets here so special.

Santorini is a volcanic island so the beaches here are black shingle, they are very dramatic and beautiful, but if you’re imagining a soft sandy beach wedding try Rhodes or Crete or Zakynthos

We recommend Kamari for guests, this side of the island is flatter so better for those with mobility issues or guests with children, and it has a beautiful beach. You’ll find a good range of accommodation here to suit all budgets and there are 100’s of restaurants, cafes and bars, so great for social gatherings pre and post wedding.

I personally love Imergliovi, it’s a little quieter than the main areas, the hotels are luxurious and unique, some offering world class cuisine and facilities.

And if you really want to treat yourself then why not spend a few days in Oia, with its unique views. It’s further away from the main resorts and perfect for post wedding relaxation, reliving wedding day memories in total luxury.
