‘It is incredibly hard to pick out just one favourite moment from the big day, as every part was perfect and more magical than either of us could’ve ever imagined’
We chose to get married abroad initially because of the warm and sunny weather, and the more we looked into the idea the more it became a definite decision.
Greece was always one of our top destinations, so when we approached the Bridal Consultants the venue options were stand out, and so beautiful.
We chose a Villa wedding as the idea of staying at the venue and being surrounded by close family leading up to the big day would be very special, and it was.
We invited a total of 37 guests to the wedding, and 22 of them were able to make the journey to Zakynthos. We were aware that naturally, not everyone would be able to make the trip for various different reasons. Nevertheless, the day was perfect and very intimate which is something we both wanted.
My dress was designed by Woná Concept, which I bought from Dotty Bridal, 12 months before the wedding. I spent one weekend looking around, and despite my indecisive nature, the final decision was made very quickly, as I was so sure it was the one.
The dress itself wasn’t anything I had in mind before dress shopping, so it just goes to show you have to try everything on!
For shoes and accessories I decided on a pearl theme. Pearl is my birthstone, and my mother’s name meaning, so I liked the sentiment.
As a young girl I was obsessed with crowns and tiaras, so it was a given I’d be wearing one on my wedding day.
I bought the tiara from Arianna bespoke accessories.
My shoes were from Quiz.
My pearl earrings from Beaver brooks.
Kai, along with the best man, father of the bride and father of the groom, bought suits from Next. They chose a light/stone coloured outfit to compliment the summer occasion.
We bought the bridesmaid dresses online from Azazie. After a few failed trips searching on the high street we took to the internet which proved to be a lot easier.
We collectively decided on a Juniper green colour as it fit the colour scheme of our wedding perfectly, and the colour itself suited both bridesmaids. The satin fabric was very lightweight and looked beautiful in the sun.
We both really liked the idea of a natural themed wedding, with greens, golds and whites. After picking the venue we thought this colour scheme would fit perfectly with the aesthetic of the Villa. I think with such a simple yet effective colour scheme it also allowed the vibrant colours of the guests to shine out more too.
It is incredibly hard to pick out just one moment from the big day, as every part was perfect and more magical than either of us could’ve ever imagined.
Having said that seeing Kai’s face as I walked down the aisle still gets to me now as I was so sure he wasn’t going to cry.
The weather being a big factor, you are almost guaranteed a glorious day, and the sunshine makes everything better doesn’t it!? The scenery and views from the venue were incredible.
This also makes the photography on the big day very special and not something you can replicate in the UK.
Being able to spend days before and after the wedding with friends and family. We were able to meet up for meals, invite guests to the villa and plan trips to the beach with everyone, allowing us all the enjoy the island together.
Because of the prolonged experience it also allows for a much calmer lead up to the wedding.
If a wedding abroad is something you are thinking about, go for it! The Bridal Consultants helped create a day so special for us all.
