FAQs
Crete is one of the largest Greek Islands servicing many industries alongside tourism, so the island never really closes. Due to it’s southern position it also enjoys a longer summer season. April right through to October and even November with considerations. With a huge range of unique venues in different styles there is so much on offer, however even with all this we recommend booking around 2 years in advance to give you the most choice of venue and date for your wedding.
As with any hot climate we recommend late afternoon or early evening for your ceremony. If you’re concerned about the day feeling too short, then consider a venue that allows you to continue after midnight, Crete has some venues with no end time!
Crete enjoys a longer summer season due to it's southerly position. Weddings are possible in April to October, even November as long as you have some sort of plan B in case of inclement weather.
Crete is our number one choice for Easter weddings.
Generally, you'll need valid passports, birth certificates and certificates of no impediment (a document to prove you are single and able to marry). I would encourage you to find a local representative to help with the legal work as it varies based on nationality and individual circumstances.
In Crete your legal paperwork has to arrive ahead of you, so having someone local to collect these documents and register them is essential to have a legal wedding.
There is no minimum residency requirement in Crete but we would recommend arriving at least 2 to 3 days before the wedding, so that you have time to complete your pre wedding meetings and relax before the big day. Don’t forget those pre and post wedding gatherings too!
I wouldn't recommend Crete if you're on a very tight budget, but the island is excellent value for money, for example, most of our packages include a full open bar for the duration of your wedding. And due to Crete being a larger island, it's serviced a wealth of talented suppliers at varying price points! So we can ‘wiggle’ budgets giving you the most value for your day.
