When to get married in Kos?
Kos has a typical Mediterranean climate. The season starts with warm sunny days and cool evenings in April, continuing into May. The hot sunny days start towards the middle of June and last throughout most of August. September sees a return to more warm days rather than hot and often the pleasant weather lasts into October, however this is when the evenings turn cool so a covering is recommended.
Days are longest from May until the middle of August with sunset between 8pm and 9pm.
We plan weddings in Kos from early May through to mid October.

Kos is abundant with all styles of cuisine, that you’ll see in the many cafes and restaurants, especially in the more popular tourist areas, but there are many jewels to be found in hidden away, lesser known areas, so we encourage you to explore. Kos’ Grecian and Mediterranean roots are evident in the local dishes you’ll get to try, meat, fish and vegetables, olive oil and potatoes feature heavily.
Eating and drinking out in Kos is not expensive, especially if you stick to local eateries, you’ll find most restaurants are cheaper than the UK. However for those looking for a more fine dining restaurants there are plenty to be found.
The Greeks love their food and are proud of their cuisine. In Kos there are some local dishes we recommend you try.
ONE | Posa Cheese/ Wine Cheese
This cheese is local to Kos, it’s made with Goats Cheese and red wine is used to mature it. The taste is has a mild spiciness, you’l find it served alongside breakfast and is paired very well with watermelon and coffee.
TWO | Pitaridia
Pitaridia is often regarded as a distant cousin to lasagna, but Pitaridia is a homemade dish made using broth. It’s an incredibly tasty dish that you must try, you’ll find it in local eateries.
THREE | Lazarakia
Lazarakia or Lazari is a white bread that traditionally women would make on the Sunday of Lazaros. It’s tradition goes back to engaged women preparing a small offering to send to their future husband. (quite fitting I think)
FOUR | Lampropites
Lampropites is a sweet and savoury delicacy made in Kos that is traditionally prepared around Easter time. It’s a small pie made with feta cheese. If you can hunt them down they are certainly worth a try.
Special Diets.
Although most restaurants will accommodate special diets it’s good to be specific about what you can and can’t eat. Explain to the waiter clearly what foods should be avoided and you’ll be fine.
All of our wedding venues can cater for special dietary requirements, so rest assured you and your guests will be catered for should you have any specific menu requirements.

Attractions/Things to do
Kos is one of the most popular islands for tourists in Europe, however although the beaches are quite stunning (think of sinking your feet into soft powder sand) there’s so much more to discover on Kos, from Ancient sites to thermal springs.
Diving
Due to the islands volcanic history there is a whole underwater word of reefs and caves to discover. Whether you’re a novice or an expert there are many schools ready to escort you around the wonderful world of Kos beneath the ocean.
Ancient Sites
There are so many ancient sites to visit in Kos, but one of the most significant is Asklepieion. It dates from the first half of the 3rd century BC and was built to honor the god of health and medicine, Asklepios.
Thermal Springs
An absolute must do is a visit to the Thermal Springs in Agios Fokas, a sea pool with hot springs. It’s known as one of the most outstanding areas of Kos!
Hippocrates Plane Tree
The myth says that Hippocrates stood beneath this Plane Tree to teach his students about healing! How fabulous! Of course this is a descendant of the original tree.
Open Air Cinema
Perfect for any movie lovers out there, a visit to Cine Orfeas, a spacious and comfortable open air cinema to watch your favourite flicks under the stars.
Horse Riding
Can you imagine anything more romantic than horse riding on the beach at sunset! And don’t worry, you don’t have to be an expert with centres catering for children to older ‘newbies’ and those with more experience.
Nerantzia Castle
The castle of knights, Nerantzia Castle is near the entrance of the port of Kos Town and is a spectacular structure to discover, dating back to the 14th century and built by the Knights of St John.
Kos is and island of treasures with so much to be discovered, whether you wish to enjoy one of the many beautiful beaches or discover some of the islands rich history a stay in Kos will enrich the soul and leave you wanting more. Probably one of the reasons it’s one of the most revisited islands in Greece.
