Ideas for an Small Wedding Abroad
Are you one of the 1000’s of couples that had to postpone or even cancel your 2020 wedding due to the pandemic?
The heartache was felt far and wide when in March it became apparent that the 2020 wedding season was in jeopardy, almost the whole world went into some type of lockdown.
Even now as i write this were in the middle of another lockdown in the UK, hoping in some way to rescue what we can of Xmas and the New year(as a type this there is talk of a possible vaccine…..).
Times maybe uncertain right now, but we at the Bridal Consultant are focusing on March onwards.
There’s over 6 months until the start of the wedding season and we’re hopeful that by the start of 2021 things will have returned to some type of normality, even if that means some social distancing is still in place.
A special congratulations.
A special congratulations to all the couples that did get married from July onwards. The weddings may have been smaller than initially intended but were still as precious and even MORE special in some ways due to the challenges the couples faced to make sure their weddings happened .
Looking forward to brighter times.
In the last 2 weeks we’ve seen a big increase in new enquiries for 2021 and 2022 (and 2023), Many of these enquiries are for couples that have cancelled plans this year and are now looking for a smaller more intimate wedding abroad next year.
So with this in mind we thought it would be good to share our top 5 picks for a small wedding abroad – one from each of our destinations
ONE | Dana Villas in Santorini
One of our most popular venues for intimate weddings abroad.
The essence of elegance, Dana Villas sits on the side of the Caldera in small community of Firastefani. The ceremony takes place on a pretty terrace with a handsome gazebo and the most picturesque views. Chairs are set up in ceremony style and the bride makes her entrance through the ornamental gate to her guests, seated church style.
The reception takes place on the infinity pool terrace a few steps down the side of the Caldera, pretty terrace that can sit up to 30 guests over 4 tables with room for dancing. The infinity pool is simply divine when dressed with floating candles.
Favourite thing about this venue: The views
Main consideration: 70 steps too/from location so not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

TWO | Private Villa in Zakynthos
For those wanting a luxury wedding why not incorporate your holiday and wedding in one, with one of our luxury villas in Zakynthos.
Our Villa sleeps up to 8 people over 3 bedrooms and a sofa bed. This Villa is situated in Keri an untouched and incredibly beautiful area of Zakynthos. With views to die for, a setting that would look fitting in the Hollywood hills and a completed tailored wedding to match, we promise you’ll forget about any plans you had previous to this.
Favourite thing about this venue: It’s almost like the villa was built with weddings in mind, it’s so well laid out to make the most of the views and gives so many wonderful options for ceremony and reception set up.
Main consideration: Car hire would be necessary as Keri is away from the main tourist routes.

FIVE | Kalithea Spa in Rhodes
This ancient spa in Kalithea Rhodes offers a historic venue with almost a modern twist when considering the clean lines and clean colour palette.
Here you can experience a truly unique wedding in Rhodes.
The ceremony and reception take place in the domed rotunda, with lush flora at every turn very little decoration is needed.
This is a particularly picturesque part of Rhodes and is perfect for those precious couple shots.
Favourite thing about this venue: The unique setting.
Main consideration: This venue is towards the north of Rhodes island so we’d recommend staying close to the venue for ease of visits and on the day.
We promise, your time will come
Even if you’ve changed or postponed your plans, rest assured you can still have the wedding of your dreams, even if it looks a bit different than you originally envisioned. These are very strange times we find ourselves in and planning a wedding can give you something positive to focus on as we negotiate the up’s and downs of our current reality.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully it’s not too far away.
