Have you said yes to the dress?
I have said yes to the dress. EEEEKKKK!!!
I tried on a lot of straight dresses at first thinking that this was what I wanted for Santorini with the warm weather & the location etc. I had this “perfect” vision in my head of a straight dress, but with lots of intricate detail & a lovely long train. However, I didn’t fall in love with any of them & my post baby body made Me feel more self conscious of my lumps and bumps, so although I love my new body as it gave me my beautiful baby girl, my shape has changed a bit & I just didn’t like the materials of the dresses I tried on. I guess I felt they would be too clingy & actually too hot & sticky in the heat which would make me even more self conscious.
I was constantly scrolling through Instagram looking at different designers, when I fell head over heels In love with a designer from the Ukraine called Oksana Mukha and that is who I’ve purchased my dress from.
There are so many beautiful dresses & some amazing designers, but I have to say Kenneth Wilson, Enzoani, Galia Lahav & Oksana are my absolute favourites because the detail in their dresses is just incredible. Here are photos of some of their designs:
I visited 2 shops prior to finding the perfect designer & then after finding the designer and the dress I loved on Instagram, I look for a stockist close to me. I went to try the dress on at Knowsley Bridal Suites, the girls are so lovely & their boutique is so beautiful, you have to pay them a visit if you live near or in Liverpool, you’ll love it. It was such an amazing, emotional day shared with my little sister (maid of honour), my best friend (one of my bridesmaids) my mum & my auntie & it’s a beautiful memory I’ll never forget.
If I had to give any advice to future brides, it would be:
- NEVER settle, you will find your dream dress & you will have an overwhelming feeling whereby you just know it is “The one”.
Bit like your future husband I suppose!? Haha. - TWO Have an open mind & try on all different shapes first then once you know what style suits you best, you can try on more from all different designers in that chosen style. Don’t always think you know what style to choose straight away, as you may be disappointed & waste a lot of time trying on the wrong dresses. I completely changed my mind & now have my dream dress just by trying new things.
