Venue Winery and Theros Wave Bar Wedding Santorini • Date 29th of June 2018 • Number of Guests 40 • Budget ££
Tell us why you chose a wedding at Santo Winery followed by a Theros Wave Bar wedding reception?
Ships and I visited Santorini 3 years ago and fell in love with the island, it is so romantic and we saw a couple of weddings taking place and decided we would like to have our wedding here.
Theros Wave Bar was definitely going to be our reception venue as we had hung out at the beach a couple of times and loved the vibe and location. Santo Winery was somewhere we hadn’t visited but Lisa sold it to us when we came to our consultation, that view………..WOW!!
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked our wedding at the end of January 2017 and married on the 29th of June 2018.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 42 guests and 40 of those attended.
You look stunning in your dress! How long did it take you to find the ‘one’ and what make was it?
My dress was made by Ellis and it didn’t take me too long to find it. I already knew what style and fit I wanted so I had it all sorted within a month which I was really happy about. I could then start concentrating on other things like flowers/decoration etc.
How did you accessories on the day? What shoes did you wear?
I didn’t want a shoe with a very high heel as I’m 5’9″ and also with getting married abroad the heat can tend to make your feet swell so chose something elegant but comfortable, a 3″ ivory satin shoe, they were from Paradox and I purchased them at House of Fraser.
Accessories were from ASOS, Debenhams and a local jewellers. I opted for gold, pearls and diamonds.
Tell us about Ships attire, where was this purchased?
The Grooms suit was from Next, casual but smart. The jacket was grey linen, so nice and light in the heat and then a fitted pair of navy trousers and white shirt. He also wore a tan belt and shoes. My husband wore a blush pink pocket square too.
What about the bridesmaid dresses? What colour did you choose and where did you find them?
The bridesmaid’s dresses were from ASOS. They were blush pink with gold and diamante embellishment on the shoulder. They were almost Grecian style so very fitting for the location. I wanted a soft colour as we were getting married in the evening. The lighting worked perfectly with this option, especially for the photos.
The bride’s bouquet, what flowers did you choose and why?
I went for pale pink and cream roses as they are one of my favourite flowers and I love them when they are clustered together in a bug bunch. They were so gorgeous and exactly what I wanted!!
How did you chose to theme your Theros Wave Bar Wedding Reception?
The menu was a BBQ buffet style, consisting of pork and chicken souvlaki, burgers, salad, potatoes. I think the guests loved this. They could just get up and help themselves to whatever they wanted. We didn’t want a big sit down formal dinner as we wanted to just get the party started and have everyone on the dance floor!!
For our favours we went for little suitcases filled with mints. We chose these as my husband and I like to travel a lot. Our favour tags had ‘Mint to Be’ on them with ‘C loves S’ and the wedding date.
We wanted subtle colours and a sexy ambience for our reception so we chose champagne coloured votives, candles, table centre arrangements of pink and cream flowers and champagne diamante table confetti. Theros Wave Bar is so gorgeous we didn’t need much else!
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
We really enjoyed the planning of the wedding. We made sure that everything was sorted well in advance by making a list and ticking things off as soon as we had completed them. The Bridal Consultant were amazing and working with them was an absolute breeze. Everything we needed to do from our end was always well communicated through email and anything we needed would always be dealt with promptly. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to create our dream wedding!!
What’s your favourite memory from the day?
Everything, from walking down the aisle with my dad, looking into my husband’s eyes and saying our vows to partying with all our nearest and dearest. So many amazing memories made!!
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The weather!! Venues and locations are unbelievable and they are perfect if you want something more intimate to share with the people who are the most special to you.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Don’t stress, everything is so well managed by the wedding planners, they know how to deal with any situation should it arise, so your big day will be perfect in every way!
