Why did you choose to get married in Zante?
We chose Zante due to it’s beauty and the price was incredible too. Once I researched the places and beautiful islands I just fell in love. It was also reasonably priced for all our families to afford. I have always dreamed of getting married abroad and I am so glad that I did.
The ceremony I chose was private and secluded, which is exactly what I wanted. There was a bar for the guests to enjoy prior to my arrival and breathtaking views.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
18 month – 2 years
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
It was an open invite for all family. We did not invite any friends only my bridesmaid and the best man were friends. We wanted a more intimate family wedding which is exactly what we had. We had 30 guests at our wedding.
We love your dress, what make was it how long did it take to find the perfect one?!
I had a Mori Lee dress. I knew it was the one as soon as I saw it, it was love at first sight. I had a vision in my head what I wanted and getting married abroad didn’t change that at all.
I went to one shop before I found the perfect dress and it was the third dress I tried on.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories?
My shoes had a beautiful butterfly details on them. Butterflies are very poignant to me they were my grandmother’s favourite. So it seemed as though she was with me walking down the aisle.
Tell us about Dean’s suit
We had a vision of the overall look, we wanted the suits to feel very casual. So the shirts with rolled up sleeves, grey suit trousers, tan loafers and grey braces with a pink bowtie fit perfectly.
Our fathers wore grey linen trousers with an open necked white shirt and brown loafers in a soft tan material.
My 2 nephews wore grey shorts, white shirts with matching bowties to the groom and best man with tan sandals.
Can you tell us about the bridesmaids dresses?
They were light grey wrap over, grey chiffon dresses.
I bought them in the same place I bought my wedding dress, as there were only two adult bridesmaids so I could splurge a bit on their dresses.
My niece wore a lovely pale pink and lace dress from monsoon and I customised my daughters dress.
Tell us about your bouquet
I had my bouquet made in the U.K and took it out with me along with all the bridal parties bouquets and button holes.
They consisted of a large open roses and small closed up pink and white roses.
I had broaches pinned all over my bouquet also.
Did you have a wedding theme?
Pink, white and silver with a touch of bling and butterflies. I always knew I’d have this theme.
What about the smaller details of the day?
The smaller details made the venue in all honesty.
I took with me my favour boxes, which were little grey boxes with “love” on.
I had wooden plaques as place names.
A guest book to match the theme.
A “wedding rules” sign for the guest table.
I also took out little rhinestones and gems that they placed on the tables.
We also had glass jars hanging from the trees, fairy lights and beautiful flower arrangements on the gazebo.
The cake we chose was a traditional Greek style wedding cake in lemon and chocolate flavours.
We chose the BBQ menu and it was perfect for the laid back vibe we wanted. We loved the casual style, it was perfect for the style of venue and day we wanted.
What’s your best memory from the day?
From start to finish, the whole day was a perfect memory.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The setting.
The photos.
The sea.
The weather.
The calmness on your wedding day.
Everything is done for you.
A holiday as well as a wedding.
And the price!
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Don’t stress. It will be the best thing you ever do. Enjoy every single moment, from planning to the big day.
