Greek Island Weddings, when you think of Greece what do you see?
A hidden cove with crystal clear blue water and soft white sand?
A rustic tavern on the waters edge serving the freshest fish caught that day?
Drinking a cold Mythos beer or glass of wine whilst enjoying a magical sunset?
Blue domed chapels and cobbles streets.
Charming friendly hospitality?
Whether you’ve been or not these are things that come to mind when we think of Greece. Perhaps from watching moves, like Mama Mia or Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, reading novels based in the Greek Isles or speaking to people that have visited.
So there’s no surprise that Greece is one of our most popular destinations for weddings abroad. It’s that magical mix of stepping into times gone by whilst being able to enjoy modern facilities, Greece has that romantic feeling of stepping back and time and just ‘getting away from it all’
We offer weddings on four Greek Island, Zakynthos also known as Zante, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini.
Zakynthos is intentionally traditional island, they know this is why tourist return year on year, infact they actively discourage high rise blocks of hotels as they feel this would take away from the traditional feel of the island.
Tsilivi is where most of our couples stay on the island, it’s the most family friendly resort in Zakynthos with incredible facilities, the beaches are soft and the water calm, there are both luxury and basic hotels, there are numerous rustic tavernas and even the odd sports bars, great for family gathering pre/post wedding.
Keri is a location many like to explore, it’s less developed than the main resorts and is an exciting place to explore the hidden coves and beaches, you may just find a traditional restaurant off the beaten track to enjoy lunch, often with incredible cliff top views.
Zakynthos is best for beach weddings, private villas, a pretty traditional styled tavernas and restaurants.
Rhodes has such a wide and wonderful selection of hotels and resorts. Accommodation ranges from small and rustic b and b’s on the waters’ edge to 5 star all inclusive family friendly hotels.
You can choose to stay in an old traditional town with windy streets, traditional style restaurants and entertainment or a 5 star hotel that is further away from the action but still offers all you need. This is a destination where guests will have plenty of choice in accommodation and holiday style.
The selection of wedding venues is as diverse as the resorts. From an ancient spa in the North of Rhodes, in Kalithea, to wonderful beaches the east of the island near Lindos where the bride can walk barefoot to meet her groom.
Rhodes is best for, beach weddings, chapels by the sea, modern hotel weddings or cliff top tavernas with traditional food and incredible views.
Crete is one of the largest islands in Greece and is one of the only islands that remains busy throughout the year, although the main tourist season is April to October, it’s not uncommon to have warm balmy sunny days in November.
Tourism makes up most of the islands economy but the island has a thriving agriculture industry hence the year round activity
The island has a diverse landscape, here there are some of the largest beaches and bluest waters in Greece and some of the most cosmopolitan towns. Chania itself is the town of two halves, a more traditional side which sits comfortably next to a more modern side, so you can find both traditional B and B’s and modern luxury hotels and everything inbetween.
It’s this diverse landscape that attracts couples from all over the world to experience a wedding in Crete.
Crete is best known for beach weddings, but also offers amazing options, such as a working farm that produces incredible organic produce, the farm has a traditional town square and chapel where the wedding takes place. We also have a private olive grove in the Cretan countryside and many luxury modern hotels.
Images of sunsets and white domed roofs come to mind. This once sleepy island, home to artists, poets and creative’s is now the most popular destination in Greece for weddings.
Although one of the more expensive destinations for weddings it’s certainly delivers on quality. With some of the most desirable hotels and cuisine in the world here.
Once popular with those searching for an idlylic honeymoon location Santorini is now as attractive to families as it is to couples. With a growing number of family friendly hotels and gorgeous beach resorts to service this demand.
Santorini is known most for it’s cliff top wedding and unmatchable sunset’s. We often design a whole wedding day around the 90 minutes of sunset.
Santorini is best for modern hotel style weddings, although occasionally we do plan beach weddings on the islands black volcanic beaches.
