Why did you choose to get married in Zante and Cameo Island in particular?
We decided together that we wanted a beach wedding, but we wanted something a bit different and we wanted it to be private (which is not easy when you want a beach wedding). I spent ages scrolling the internet, but somebody else recommended The Bridal Consultants so when I had a look on their website it became clear very quickly where it had to be!
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
It was about 20 months in advance of the big day.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited about 80 guests in total and in the end we had 45 attend, but it was a perfect amount. We understand the commitment in getting married abroad and we felt so lucky to have the majority of our close family and friends there to see us on our big day!
Tell us about your gorgeous dress and how long did it take to find the perfect one?!
I went to several shops and I actually bought a dress but then changed my mind and returned it! I knew it wasn’t the perfect dress as I was still tempted to look online at other dresses. I saw my most perfect dress online, after hours of searching! It was a Stella York design, so I then searched all the local shops which sold that designer until I found one in stock. I had to travel about 45 minutes to this shop but once I tried it on, I knew it was the one! The whole experience was amazing!
And your accessories?
My accessories I bought online as I knew what I wanted (a mixture of pearl and crystal) so that didn’t take too long to find. I had a tiara, earrings and bracelet all matching. My shoes I bought from John Lewis and were recommended from the shop I bought my dress from. I wanted a little kitten heel so they were comfy on the big day and in a similar colour to my dress.
Tell us about the grooms attire
The groom and best man/ushers all bought their suits. With it being abroad and likely to be red hot, they just wore pants, shirt, a dicky bow and braces. They all looked so smart!
And the bridesmaids?
I always knew what colour I wanted which was a pale pastel green as I thought this colour would look amazing in the sunshine. I also knew I wanted the multiway dresses to match all my bridesmaid’s preferences – so when Debenhams had a sale I was on it and found the perfect ones!
What flowers did you choose for your bouquet?
I chose blush pink and ivory roses and gypsophilia. I love roses both of these flowers and the colours I thought would look perfect with my colour scheme.
Did you have a theme?
We didn’t really have a theme, just ivory and blush pink as my colour scheme.
Tell us about the smaller details of your day.
We decided against the traditional Greek cake, and ordered our own custom cake and sent some pictures of what we wanted through. It was quite a simple design, two tiered with some flowers to match my bouquet on the top. We also went for the Greek meze style for the food and it was amazing! All of our guests loved the food, and there was plenty of it, it just kept on coming! Initially we opted for the standard package however in the end after contemplating cost we went for the deluxe package. We didn’t really have any preferences on the décor, just lots of flowers and lanterns/candles, we left the rest up to the wedding planners who did an amazing job, the reception looked beautiful! For entertainment we opted for the saxophone player and DJ in the evening.

What’s your best memory from the day?
Our best memory of the day was actually all of it.
As we had not seen the wedding venue or reception before getting married it was a bit of a risk, but it all paid off as it was just so perfect and because it was a surprise to us too we were just mesmerised from start to finish! If I had to pick my most favourite moment – it would have been seeing Adam as I walked down the steps/ isle, I changed the music that I walked down the aisle to last minute to Adams favourite song and he was totally surprised.
He said his favourite moment was seeing me walk down the aisle too!
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The sunshine, the atmosphere as everyone is super relaxed and in holiday mode so is up for having a good time, we had a wedding planner which was amazing and would definitely recommend as she was brilliant, we probably wouldn’t have had a wedding planner if our wedding was in the UK.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Don’t get too stressed and have trust in the process. Don’t get too caught up in the finer details either as the setting will be just perfect as it is! The only recommendation would be to find out before hand about all the paperwork and translation of all documents, however the Bridal Consultants were fab at guiding us through this process.
