‘Italy ticked all our boxes, close enough for all of our family and friends to make it, nice weather, stunning views and amazing food!’
Venue Villa Eva Ravello Wedding • Date 9th of September 2019 • Number of Guests 44 • Budget ££
Why did you choose a Villa Eva Ravello wedding in particular?
We decided on Ravello without ever having been there! We just knew we didn’t want a big wedding in the UK and Italy ticked all our boxes, close enough for all of our family and friends to make it, nice weather, stunning views and amazing food!
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked our wedding around 14 months in advance.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 48 guests and 44 were able to attend.
Tell us about your dress.
I found my dress really quickly! It was in the second shop I visited. My dress was by Ivory and Co, but I had fallen in love with the lace on the Nicola Anne Bridal Dream dress! So I had a bolero handmade for me with the lace to wear over the top of my dress, which meant that my dress was completely personalised to me and one of a kind!
What about your shoes and accessories?
I’m a ‘shoeaholic’ so my shoes were a big deal! I opted for Sophia Webster rose gold Rosalinds (not the most practical choice given the venue)!
My headband was made for me by Rachel Sokhal Bridal. I had really struggled to find some hair accessories as I have short platinum hair and Rachel totally understood my hair and what I wanted for my accessories.
What about the groom?
Luke wanted formal but lightweight. He found the perfect dust pink 3 piece suit from Moss Bros.
We would love to know where your bridesmaids dresses were purchased.
I chose dusty lilac pink bridesmaid dresses from Little Mistress.
What was your wedding theme? And why did you choose this?
We didn’t really have a theme we just wanted formal but casual! So we decided to save money on floral centrepieces by making our own and shipping them out in advance! Plus we both suffer from awful hay fever so having loads of flowers around wouldn’t be practical. In the end we found the perfect centrepieces on eBay, they were pre-used but perfect for what we wanted. By doing this it meant we had more money to pay for our guests to enjoy an extra drink or two.
Tell us about the smaller details of your intimate Villa Eva Ravello wedding?
We decided to stick with the Italian wedding cake that was offered by our venue. We wanted to embrace the fact that our wedding was in Italy and we made the right choice! The cake was stunning and different from any other wedding cake.
Again with the menu we chose the menu offered by our venue, it was a 5 course Italian meal and the food was stunning!
For entertainment we had a string trio before the ceremony and a DJ after dinner.
Do you have a favourite memory from the day?
The whole day was amazing it’s too hard to pick just one memory!
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
It’s more intimate and has a more relaxed holiday feel to it.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Find time to relax and enjoy the whole experience and enjoy your destination!
Did you stick to your original budget or go over/or even stay under?
I think we ended up going slightly over budget, but it was worth every penny.
