Venue Elegant Private Terrace, Croatia • Date 8th July 2017 • Number of Guests 56 • Budget ££
Why did you choose to get married in Dubrovnik, Elegant Private Terrace in particular?
We chose to get married here as Dubrovnik is a very romantic city with fantastic restaurants and views. It has beautiful windy streets and loads of culture. It is also a short flight and only a 30 minute transfer from the airport so its ideal for children. The weather is also fantastic! I would highly recommend Dubrovnik!
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked it in September and got married in the July (10 months).
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 64 and 56 (including children) attended the wedding. We had a great turn out and I feel this was because the flight and transfers were short enough people could come just for the weekend.
Your dress is so beautiful and elegant! What make was this and why did you choose this particular style?
It was Justin Alexander. I felt it matched perfectly with the Dubrovnik style. It took me a weekend of looking to find it, I knew getting married abroad it would need to be cool so this made it easier to narrow the options down.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories, where were they from?
My accessories were presents from years ago so they were sentimental to me. My shoes were Kurt Geiger.
David looks handsome in his navy attire! Why did he choose this look?
He wanted to go down the casual root, he bought his suit but kept it casual with a blue shirt and boat shoes.
What about the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses? What colour were they and where did you find them?
They were yellow from Monsoon for the children and Lipsy for the bridesmaids (Next).
We love your bouquet! Why did you choose white roses?
They are a classic and my favorite flower.
Did you theme your wedding?
We did not have a wedding theme, we kept it very relaxed and just chose what we wanted.
Tell us about the smaller details you added to personalise your waterfront Wedding in Croatia
We had the DJ with the package which was great.
We had the mirror table plan which worked really well and look glam.
We also had the string lights which I loved!
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
Really easy and stress free. I have a business which takes up a lot of my time. I was able to follow the advice given and it turned out to be a perfect day.
Do you have a favourite memory from the day?
I loved the boat trip and walking down the aisle.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
You get to spend more time with your guests as they tend to make a holiday of it. Its not just one day its a weekend of celebrating and seeing all your closest friends and family. It helps with the guest list that you can keep it small.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Make sure your dress is cool as there is nothing worse then being hot on the big day. Ensure you have plenty of shade available for your guests. Getting married 5pm onwards is great as it’s a little cooler.
