‘I just want to say WOW the work everyone has done to make our day was out of this world. We cannot thank you enough’
Venue Santorini Gem • Date 23rd of June 2022 • Number of Guests 52 •
The happy couple…..
I must admit when I found out Lauren was a florist herself I was a little nervous. It goes to say when you work with someone in the industry they have HIGH expectations! The detail that went into each arrangement and part of this wedding was incredible. Having seen the venue themselves the couple had a good understanding of how to use their decorations to full affect.
After a year of planning it came together wonderfully, the on the day team went above and beyond and these photographs (just a preview for now) show just how magnificent this venue truly is, especially when you have a florist planning the decoration.

Can you tell us why the Santorini Gem was your perfect venue?
Both myself and Calum wanted to get married abroad as we wanted the weather and to be somewhere by the sea. We looked at different places and we just kept going back to the Santorini gem, for its private location and with it being the highest point of the island we knew it was going to be incredible. We chose Santorini for its uniqueness and that it is just breathtaking everywhere you go. How can you not love it!
We visited the venue in September 2021 and just fell in love. It was everything we wanted and more. So many of our guests were amazed and were took back with how beautiful the place was.
How many guests did you invite and how many joined you?
We invited 72 guests and we ended up having 56 guests attend our wedding.
Tell us about your gorgeous dress.
My dress was very plain and simple which I love and I am obsessed with! I loved that I had a delicate cathedral veil which I knew I wanted from the start, It finished the dress off and was certainly a wow piece.
I ended up going to 3 bridal shops. I tried on dresses which I thought I wanted, which were lace, and tulle but I ended up with the complete opposite. When I tried my dress on I knew that it was the one.
& your accessories and shoes?
My shoes were from Dune, with my dress being plain I wanted the same with my shoes, simple but elegant and the wrap around satin straps made it. I went for a low heel as I wanted to keep them on all night.
I wore my mum’s head band which she wore for her wedding but we made it into a modern style which I wore on the back of my head rather than a headband. It was so special wearing this. My earrings and bracelet were a wedding present of my husband Calum which I received on the morning of the wedding.
The Groom.
Calum wore a light grey/ neutral three piece suit. The best men and page boy wore the same matching suit too. We purchased all these suits as we wanted to get this all tailored to each individual and they certainly looked very smart.
The Bridesmaids
The bridesmaids dresses I wanted something quite light and flowy due to the heat. I went for a dusty pale blue which tied in with the surroundings of Santorini. They looked beautiful on the day. We purchased these from a small boutique “Isabella Closet in Liverpool” from the TH&TH Bridesmaids collection.
Now, the FLOWERS….
My inspiration came from lots of mood boards and also my own inspiration from being a dried florist. I wanted white all around with a little bit of greenery, I wanted elegant and modern. I knew exactly what flowers I wanted. I chose white Hydrangeas, White Avalanche roses, white gladiolus, and white Lysianthus. The final look was breathtaking and I wouldn’t of changed a thing. We also then chose white rose petal confetti.
Did you bring any decorative items from home? If yes can you tell us about them and how easy they were to arrange and transport?
I made my own table menus, and name tags. I also created my own timeline schedule and welcome cards. These were not a problem to bring. I just packed them in my suitcase and brought them to our wedding meeting.
Best Memory
Every minute of the day was unforgettable and amazing, but I would definatly say that reading our own vows during the ceremony was something special to us.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
Everything! I think it is such a different feeling when being abroad. Also knowing that you are guaranteed the nice weather as a UK wedding you never know what it going to be like!
The one stand out for me was 100% the views from the venue. I feel like you can’t get this anywhere in the UK.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
I would 100% recommend getting married abroad, there was no better feeling than having all your friends and family share your special wedding day, and also being able to share a holiday with them too. It was an unforgettable experience.
